The research project is presented in two parts. Part I is a Literature Review. This is an ideal assignment for students, affording them the opportunity to explore a topic of interest. A literature review addresses an issue or problem, leading to a larger study after consideration is given to extant literature and selected voices of authority.
The conceptual framework is as follows: Students should brainstorm for a topic of interest, and then narrow that topic down to something researchable and arguable – so that one is able to present two sides. Next, a list of questions (5-7) should be established to further explore the topic, drawing in voices of authority through peer reviewed journals, studies, books, and online articles [one may also consult documentaries. graphs, charts, and news articles]. The questions can be used as subheading in the body of the text. The thesis follows the questions, stating the purpose of the literature review. The introduction must bring the reader into the review by stating the problem or issues to be explored with some background information, the questions follow as a list, and then the thesis states the purpose of the review. Take a look at the sample APA paper. Notice that the author provides a thesis that beginning, “Understanding the limitations . . .” and then further develops the thesis, “While the scientific data . . .” (494), calling for additional research and a more “comprehensive approach” to solving the problem. From this point, the author could explore some or all of the stated options.
At the end of the literature review, students should be faced with options for additional research, and this need will be addressed as a statement of purpose similar to what is found in the abstract and last paragraph of Mirano’s Literature Review.

1. Functional Assessment functional behavioral assessment
A functional behavioral assessment (FBA) means the process of determining why a student engages in behaviors that impede learning and how the student’s behavior relates to the environment.
? In this assignment, there is a case study to complete development in which you list and describe the steps of a functional assessment. Stating Under what circumstances would a teacher used a functional assessment in the classroom Use two or three peer-reviewed journal articles to develop your case, the guidelines, and tools.

? .STEP 1 The IEP team identifies and defines the challenging behavior in broad terms. A team was formed to try to develop solutions for managing?s Jason?s? challenging behaviors of _______________________and to develop a functional assessment-based support plan. The team was composed of Jason?s IEP chair, his content lead teachers, the special education coordinator, and a district behavior consultant. The team met to define the challenging problem behavior and develop a plan to conduct a Functional Behavior Assessment. Tasks were assigned, and a follow-up meeting was scheduled. The team identify and define Jason?s problem and replacement behavior so observers knows he is obserbig the correct behavior. (CLEARLY DEFINE PROBLEM)
(a) talking out/talking without permission
(b) noncompliance and defiance? verbally refusing to comply with teacher requests and walking out of class. Dents
tTo gain a better understanding of these challenging behaviors, an action plan was developed to accomplish the following: (a) completion of a problem behavior questionnaire by all staff working with Jason (b) direct observation in classroom settings,Team will collect Data on Jasons?s behavior ? When, Wher and How frequent Jason behavior occurs

The team reconvened to consider the information gathered. After Function of Jason’ A summary statement of the problem was developed that addressed the challenging behaviors, and the antecedents and consequences to the behaviors. Using a competing pathways model, Functional Base Intervention – the team developed a behavior support (intervention) plan that focused on: (a) a summary statement of the problem, (b) the desired behavior, (c) functionally equivalent replacement behaviors and adaptive social skills, and (d) strategies to make the challenging behaviors less effective and the replacement behaviors more effective, including academic and curricular adaptations. The behavior consultant scheduled a time to conduct direct observations to confirm the hypothesis.

The revised question is the causes and impact of childhood obesity in London
As part of the introduction, you should explain your rationale for the choice of subject:
Why children- obese children tend to become obese adults (provide evidence for this). There is a significant effect on mortality (provide evidence).
Why 2-11 yr olds. There is a need to address obesity among young people before behaviours have been set. They are particularly open to advertising of poor food (provide evidence of this)
Why London? There is a relatively high proportion of young people (provide evidence), there are lots of fast food outlets (evidence), there is evidence of obesity among young children in London (evidence)
The aims of the research which we discussed are something like:
•Identify causes of obesity among children
•Analyse impact of obesity now and in the future
•Evaluate government policy in this area
You need to revise and work on the aims
The structure of the handbook is something like the following (check the handbook on weblearn):
•Why do you want to do the subject? What is the importance of the issue?
Your experience of intervention in Camden- you said that the focus was on food rather than exercise and this worked quite well
•The health impact of obesity
•Why you have chosen London, obesity, young people
•The government policy context
•How you will do it. The sort of sources of information you will use and how you will get them.
This should also discuss ethics
•Set out the following chapters
•Set out the research process. You need to explain secondary research and how you will carry this out. I have recommended Dawson, and Denscombe (chapter 12 on ?documents’). A list of research books is provided at the end of this
Chapter two- literature review
You need to discuss research on obesity, but particularly obesity among young children in London. This should address the aims ie the causes and impact of obesity. There is plenty of information on obesity and health eg Public Health England, NICE
This includes the case study (see the handbook). You could use the initiative in Camden for this. As part of this, you need to discuss some of the theory in the area- for example the influence of choice in food and exercise
Conclusion and recommendations
Reference list- need to read the guide to referencing; make sure that every reference that is in the text is in the list and vice versa

After interviewing the family, compile the data and analyze the responses.
In 1,000-1,250 words, summarize the findings for each functional health pattern for the family you have selected.

Select a speaker to observe at a live event. You can look for someone in the campus community, or through your town?s local events calendar. You may not use a religious worship service that you regularly attend.
After you have observed the selected speaker, please complete the evaluation form (See attachment). Once that form is completed, write a reflection paper articulating your thoughts on the speaker and the speaking event. Think about the eight competencies, as well as the effect(s) of the medium and the message.
You will also need to include the completed evaluation form and include the time/date/location/speaker/weblink that you are evaluating.
Discuss how Dr. King uses definition and specific examples, to support his main points in “Letter from Birmingham Jail” in order to make his argument that his program of strategic nonviolent civil disobedience should be supported by thoughtful people.
*Make sure that your final draft is organized around a focused central point, or thesis. You quite possibly will only find your thesis after much writing and thought. It is not something you necessarily begin with.
*Regardless of which specific focus you choose, make sure you ground your argument in specific (and adequate) details and examples which you explain clearly.
*Make sure each of your paragraphs is unified, focused, and fully developed, and that logical connections and transitions between and among your ideas are clear. There should be at least one specific textual reference in each of your body paragraphs.
*For the above options, make correct use of in text parenthetical references to specific paragraph numbers.
Example: (par. 5).
*Paper should be typed and universally double-spaced with inch margins all the way around. Font will be Times New Roman 12.5 universally
Tips and reminders: First mention of author or other personage, full name. Thereafter use last name or pronoun (provided pronoun has a clear, unambiguous antecedent).
-Your title should not be simply a repetition of the title of the work you are discussing.
-Be consistent with tense. For historical past, use past tense, for textual present, use present tense: “In his arresting memoir, Professor Smith discusses the experiences he had in the Seattle public school system.”
-As usual, follow the MLA format and any of my special instructions. Your essay should be universally double-spaced with last name and page number in the upper right corner. Include an academic heading in the upper left on the first page as with previous essays.
Be sure to closely read and study the text that you choose to write about, and write multiple drafts. You must be very familiar with the text to write a good paper about it.
